Asha's Cardamom Rose Cold Brew Coffee

Recipe & photo by: Asha Loupy

Will you accept this rose (cold brew)? Brewed overnight with green cardamom (Baraka or Iniya—you pick) and Panneer Rose petals, this iced coffee will have you swooning at first sip. The cardamom and rose petals are ground with the beans, infusing all of their fragrant, aromatic goodness into the coffee. And, cold brewing lessens the bitterness of the coffee for a super smooth cup.

This recipes makes a cold brew concentrate. To enjoy, mix one part cardamom rose cold brew with one part water. Then, top with whole milk, or your favorite plant-based milk, and a little sweetener like maple syrup or date syrup for the ultimate cold brew experience (we've found that the dairy and sweetener enhances the flavor of the rose). And, don't forget an extra sprinkle of rose petals on top!

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup whole coffee beans
  • 6 pods Baraka Cardamom or Iniya Cardamom
  • 2 tablespoons Panneer Rose petals, plus more for garnish
  • 2 cups filtered water

Methods

  • Place the coffee beans, cardamom and rose petals in a coffee grinder and grind into a medium coarse powder.
  • Transfer the ground coffee to a mason jar or pitcher and stir in the water. Cover and let sit for 8–12 hours at room temperature or 18–24 hours in the fridge (if it is above 75°F in your house, go for the refrigerator method).
  • To finish, line a fine mesh strainer with a coffee filter and pour the coffee through, discarding the leftover coffee grounds. Refrigerate for up to a week.
