The Atlas Cedar tree grows in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and is also known as Moroccan Cedar. It is believed to have been distilled over 5,000 years ago by most of the ancient civilizations of the world who used it for perfumery, incense, medicine, cosmetics, and embalming. Today the oil is steam-distilled from the stumps or sawdust of the tree, while the wood is used to make storage chests and buildings that are disagreeable to insects.
Atlas Cedar essential oil has a “ripe” woody-fruity aroma helpful for respiratory considerations, soothing, and stress reduction. It is useful for circulatory and lymph massage and to help improve the appearance of dimpled skin. Insects do not like the aroma. For skincare, it is used for overactive skin, in after-shave blends, and in chest rubs. Best for use in bath, compress, diffuser, massage and skincare.
